1790 : 21 October : birth in Macon, 18 rue des Ursulines. Childhood in Milly and in Macon where the family stayed in winter

1803-1808 : Studies at the College des Peres de la foi in Belley ; he met Aymon de Virieu (1788-1841) there.

 1811 : Reception at the Arts, Sciences and Agriculture Academy of Mâcon.

1811-1812 : Trip to Italy.

1815 : Went with King Louis XVIII to Béthune during the Hundred-Days. Meeting with the sculptor Alfred d’Orsay.

1820 : Publication of the Poetic Meditations.

Wedding with Mary-Ann Elisa Birch who was English.

1821 : Birth in Rome of his first child called Alphonse.

1822 : Return to France ; birth of his daughter Julia in Saint-Point.

Death of the small Alphonse.

1825 : Nomination in Florence as Embassy Secretary.

 1829 : Creation of a bust of Lamartine by David d’Angers ; election at the “Académie Française”.

 1830 : Publication of the Poetic and religious Harmonies.

1832-1833 : Trip to the Middle East. Death of his daughter Julia during the trip to Beyrouth.

1833 : Elected Member of Parliament of Bergues and General Councilor of Saône-et-Loire.

1835 : Publication of A Trip to the Middle East.

1836 : Became president of the General Council of Saône-et-Loire.

1837 : Elected Member of Parliament of Macon.

1838 : Publication of The Fall of an Angel.

1840 : Became town councilor of Macon.

1847 : Publication of The History of the Girondins.

1848 : 24 February : nominated Minister of foreign Affairs and member of the temporary Government. 10 December : lost the election to the presidency of the Republic.

1849 : Publication of The Confidence with Graziella in the newspaper La Presse. Serious financial difficulties.

1850 : Publication of Toussaint Louverture.

1851 : The stone cutter of Saint-Point and the first volume of The History of the Restoration were published.

1856 :  First delivery of The familiar Course of Literature.

1859 : Received from the City of Paris the concession of a chalet in Petite Muette (107-111 avenue Henri Martin).

1860 : Sale of Milly.

1863 : Death of Mary-Ann de Lamartine.

1869 : Death of Alphonse de Lamartine. Buried in Saint -Point.
